One of the many movie houses built in the rush of the 1920s, Oakland's Paramount Theatre is a staggering Art Deco structure, immediately noticeable from the street by its 110-foot-high mosaic. The theater primarily hosts live events, including musicals, pop concerts and ballet recitals, as well as offering the occasional classical film series. Visitors to the theater can attend a performance or take one of the occasional guided tours of the unique structure.
